Understanding Inclusion with the Multicultural Center Library
The Multicultural Center’s library is a hidden gem on campus just waiting for students, staff and faculty to become patrons! This space is warm, inviting and filled to the brim with hundreds of books available for the campus community to check-out. These books have a concentration on inclusion, diversity and multiculturalism—subjects in which students, faculty and staff are welcome to dive deep into.
As one of the newest additions to the Multicultural Center, the library furthers Georgia State’s initiative to be recognized nationally for their approach to leadership in inclusion. While it is quick for anyone with a PantherCard to check out a book from the Library, it is also a perfect place to get comfortable with a thought-provoking read.
Plush benches and seats add to the comfortable atmosphere, and the silence is welcoming to those who are stressed out or who may need a break from the hustle and bustle of a lively campus. The Multicultural Center staff is competent and knowledgeable, able to answer and discuss any questions that may arise when reading any of the hundreds of books in the collection.
No matter the interest, the library offers a deep, thought-provoking read to allow the campus community a better understanding of many diversity issues. From reference materials, diversity education, and works covering broad spectrum’s of racial, ethnic, gender and sexual identities, the library allows the Georgia State community to engage with diversity at their own pace.
Georgia State’s Multicultural Center is committed to making inclusion accessible for the entire campus community, and the library offers unique ways for our Georgia State community to design their multicultural education by simply checking out a book. The library is open from 9 a.m. – 5:15 p.m Monday through Friday. The staff are excited to meet the campus community to join them on their multicultural education journeys!
